Status as of 2:40 EST

Paul, the OR prep nurse, just updated us on what is going on in the Operating Room. They didn't say much, except that they are still working and still stable.

For background, when Dr. Lazar talked to us this morning, he said that the surgery could last 2 or 3 hours, or 12 hours. He didn't go into specifics today, but when Daniel and I talked with him at his office a couple of weeks ago, he indicated that how long the surgery would last would depend upon what kind of tumor he found. Essentially, if it was a quick surgery that meant he wasn't able to remove the tumor - if he was able to remove most or all of the tumor, it would be a long surgery. So, we were all hoping for a long day.

Daniel went into surgery around 8:30 and they made the first incision at 9:07. Everything looks positive at this point so we're just hanging out, sleeping and reading, and watching Book TV - C-Span2. Maggie, Nancy, and I have been here all day. Daniel's friends Roe, Suzanne, and Liz got here a couple hours ago.

I'll update again when we get more updates - probably another couple of hours.
